The unit is located amongst ordinary Kiwis and is very central, just 5 minutes walk from the C.B.D, and 10 to 15 minutes walk from the Cathedral Square, the Information Centre and the Central City.

Good location at a great price. Has everything you need without costing a fortune. Host is very nice.

The avon lodge was exactly what we wanted a cheap roof over our head. It was warm with many heaters although we found some flaws, quite shocked to find mouse droppings in the draws which had a very musky smell and we noticed the toilet wall to be practically cardboard. Would be easy i break, we did enjoy our stay as we arrived late and left early so we weren't worried about the condition of the place. The bedroom was very clean and welcoming although would recommend the kitchen area to have a decent clean up. Otherwise, was what we wanted so no complaints it was a very nice wee home and suited us fine.

Pleasant guy to deal with and we were grateful for at least having a bed for the night (hadn't realised it was race day in christchurch and everything was booked out when we booked the weekend before). It's an adequate last resort - very basic conditions, though good heating and hot water. Although $95 is less than for most motels for a double/night, it was still overpriced for what it was. Obviously earthquake damaged and in great need of a facelift/update all-round, but marks to charles for trying to keep it going. .

Very helpful guy to deal with but that's where it finished. Although it had a certificate to occupy it is very badly damaged and only fit for the bulldozer and as a consequence felt a little unclean. However full marks to the guy for trying to keep going. Giff Peterson 10/03/12
