Christchurch Earthquake Update for Travellers October 2011

Christchurch city is still recovering from a major earthquake on 22nd February 2011.  Further aftershocks have made no significant change to the city's status.

Parts of the CBD are still cordoned off and accommodation within the central city is limited. However there are still plenty of accommodation providers operating within Christchurch as well as throughout the remainder of the Canterbury region.

Christchurch Airport is open for both domestic and international flights. The TranzAlpine train between Christchurch and Greymouth and the TranzCoastal service to Picton are operating as normal. Main roads to & from Christchurch are all open.
